Hi folks, it’s Val’s day hurray! All over the world millions of people celebrate Valentine’s Day to show love and affection. Remember God is love, and love is such a beautiful and powerful virtue. He gave us His only son in perfect love.
Let’s look at a brief history about Valentine’s Day. St Valentine was a Catholic Priest in Rome. A very kind hearted Priest who believed and did everything in love, but he was misunderstood. He was arrested, put in prison and martyred on 14th February in the year 270 AD during the reign of Emperor Claudius II. It was after two hundred years that 14th February was proclaimed St. Valentine’s Day by the Catholic church. By that time Rome had become Christian and the Catholic church had resolved to end any residual paganism. Today, every 14th day of February, millions worldwide celebrate Val’s day.
While a large number of people are celebrating Val’s day, quite a number of people will feel the absence of love as a result of losing a loved oneπ€. Val’s day is celebrated in so many ways. Amidst all the cards, flowers, chocolates etc, we should try to forgive one another and keep the π₯ burning in our relationships. 1John 3:18 says, Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other, let us really show it by our actions. I believe forgiveness may be one of the greatest gifts one can give on Valentine’s Day.
1 Corinthians 13:13, And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. As we celebrate undying love and affection, this “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”. Love is deep and never dies, if it does then it was never true love.
Let’s look at this song:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
His mercies never come to an end
They are new every morning,
New every morning
Great is thy faithfulness oh Lord
Great is thy faithfulness.
Fantastic! Love must be renewed, refreshed and maintained everyday.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Enjoy your day.
