Hi there! The months are rolling and we thank God for the gift of Life. Today’s subject is worrying hence the caption “Heartbreak”!
Children are a blessing from the Lord and not a distraction. We need to cherish them and treat them with great care. The little boy above was seen hawking mangoes at 10pm in the city of Accra🙄.
Who will even buy mangoes at that time? And how could this be? This is unacceptable. Whether he is with his biological parents or not, it is unfair to allow a boy at his age to hawk during the day let alone at night. Look at his face, is he not tired and feeling sleepy? When will he sleep, wake up and prepare for school the following day even if he attends school?
According to Wikipedia “Child Labour is work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity. It is dangerous work that exceeds reasonable hours and interfers with a child’s education. Child labourers are vulnerable to abuse, and their families are often trapped in a cycle of poverty”.
Poverty and other related problems are the main cause of child labour. We must hate poverty to the core. This is a serious issue and I think concerned authorities need to resolutely address this on all platforms. Very often children are seen as liabilities rather than assets; but the Bible refers to children as gifts from God. (Psalm 127:3)
We dare not treat children as an inconvenience or relegate them to the background when God values them so highly. God loves children so much that He watches over them with great care and protection.
“The International Labour Organisation (ILO) estimates that there are more than 200 million children today who are involved in child labour”.
Let’s all fight child labour around us. Our aim is to report such occurrences to the concerned authorities. To also identify parents of child labourers and to counsel or educate them of the consequences of child labour. We can also volunteer our time and support those parents by setting them up to be able to make ends meet. I believe by doing this we will have a world that is much better than we currently have.
May God help us all.
Stay blessed.
