Hi there, always happy to come your way and hope you’re all doing wonderful. Well, I want us to ponder over the frequency of rains in recent times. Could it be a result of global warming? In time past rainy season was not much of a problem. If there was a problem I believe very little.
In time past we normally experience heavy rains in June, July and maybe August. In recent times, things have changed as I stated earlier. It could rain heavily at any time. Accra’s population had increased and choked with both permanent and temporal structures making it difficult for free flow of water.
Most often continuous rainfall floods people’s homes.
The daily Graphic, Friday October 16, 2020 reports of 13,469 people across North East Region had their houses completely destroyed by the floods. This is very unfortunate.
On Thursday morning October 15, 2020, my gardener weeded my lawn and desilted the drainage. Just the following morning, someone had dropped disposable pack and sachet rubbers in the drainage. Very annoying! Our gutters get chocked due to these wrong practices.
Much as we try to keep our homes and environment clean, we should also try our best to educate people who are fond of throwing refuse in our drainage.
Let’s all work together to keep our environment clean because anytime it rains it destroys a lot of property.
Thanks for reading. God bless you.
Let’s all continue to observe Covid-19 protocols.
